15dollarCam

I take most of these pictures while riding my bicycle around San Francisco. I hope you will enjoy viewing them. August 27, 2007 and before: $15 Radio Shack digigr8, 300 kilopixel camera. November 13, 2007 and after: Canon SD1000

Hi Lo

This pic was taken with a camera that cost significantly more than 15 dollars. It expresses the spirit of how I spent the last 10 days: relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxing.

OK. So what camera where you using?
As always I follow your pages religiously.
Great camera angle, great framing of the shot. Terrific use of the trees in the foreground to add depth and dimension.
Helps to have the assistance from the "gods" of nature who produce these images so we mere mortals can capture them. Thanks for sharing with those of us not fortunate enough to have been there.

Nice pic, but it can't be a trend. Bring back the radio shack!

Reposting - Because i wrote that the colors were shifted towards the blue. When they actually seem to be more red. The pics I just posted today (9/7/06), tho, are clearly more blue shifted. Those must have been the ones on the 'tungsten' setting.

Charlie, thanks for your comment! Thanks to the wonders of nature for providing this scene. And thanks to the wonders of technology for allowing me to share it with you , as well as report back what camera I was using. As listed in the "histogram and camera information" box on my photo editor, I can tell you that this was taken with my Mom's Canon PowerShot SD450. Focal Length 5.8mm (35mm equivalent: 37mm). 1/1500s, f/5.6.

I'm sure those numbers mean more to you than they do to me, so perhaps you can tell me what they mean :)

I can tell you that I had just figured out how to use the manual camera settings for the first time. I set the exposure to minimum, and selected "tungsten" for the light setting. It seemed to shift all the colors towards blue.

Stay tuned for some more sunset shots. Alas, they weren't taken with the 15dollarCam, but I do think they are worth posting, if for nothing besides the spectacle.
